Product & Display

What display technology is used? #

Fraimic uses the state of the art Spectra 6 display by E Ink, delivering vivid full color and natural tones without glare or harsh backlighting.

How many colors can Fraimic display? #

Fraimic uses E Ink Spectra 6 technology, capable of displaying up to 65,000 distinct colors. Display performance depends on the controller and waveform configuration used.

What frames will Fraimic fit in?#

Fraimic is designed to pop out of the included frame and into many other frames — it’s a smart E Ink canvas, not a locked-in proprietary frame.

Power & Battery

How does the battery and charging work? #

The E Ink display uses power only when changing the image, consuming zero power during static display. The battery charges via the USB-C port on the back. On the 14" × 18" SKU, a single charge can generally last at least 3 years depending on refresh frequency. Even when the battery depletes, the frame retains the last displayed image.

How long does the battery last? Can I use the frame while charging? #

Battery life varies based on how often you change images. For light usage (about 1 change/day), the 14"×18" SKU can last up to ~3 years. Yes — you can keep using and refreshing images while charging via USB-C.

What type of battery does Fraimic use? Is it replaceable? #

Fraimic uses a built-in rechargeable lithium battery with a common pin connector. We don’t recommend users replace batteries on their own.

How long does it take to charge? #

Charging time depends on the charger’s output (wattage) and the current battery level. Use a standard USB-C charger for best results.

Setup & Content

How do I manage and update the displayed content? #

There are two ways to create and update content on Fraimic:

  1. Upload via web: Use app.fraimic.com to browse a curated gallery, upload your own images, and access uploads from the past. It supports multi-user management and auto-calibrates/crops/orients for a perfect fit.
  2. Voice-To-Vision: Tap the bottom-right corner of the matte, say what you want to see, then tap once more. Fraimic generates and displays art based on your voice prompt.
Can the frame automatically detect portrait vs. landscape orientation? #

Yes. If the frame is placed horizontally and you send a portrait image (or generate one via Voice-To-Vision), the image will rotate to landscape orientation.

What image formats and image sizes are supported? #

Fraimic supports most mainstream static image formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG up to 35MB. Animated formats like GIF are not supported due to E-Ink refresh limitations.

Can I remotely update the images from a different location? #

Yes. Set your Fraimic to "Always Awake" mode and go to app.fraimic.com, sign into your account and load any image you'd like to any frame connected to your account from around the world.

Does Fraimic need Wi-Fi to work? #

Fraimic supports a local-only mode for uploading without relying on third-party servers. Some features (like certain AI generation flows) may require connectivity depending on your configuration.

Can multiple people manage one frame? #

Yes — the upload experience supports multi-user management, making it easy for households or teams to share and update content.

Setting Up

When I click the “Fraimic_XXX” network from the list of WiFi networks on my device’s WiFi settings, the local access portal does not pop up. What should I do? #

Make sure your fraimic is awake and connected to the “Fraimic_XXX” network, then on your mobile device or PC load fraimic.local to manually launch the local access portal.

I did not receive the email confirmation after creating my account. #

please allow up to 10 minutes for the email confirmation to arrive and make sure to check your spam folder. If you still do not see the email confirmation after 10 minutes, contact support@fraimic.com

WiFi Connecting

My Fraimic is connected to my home WiFi network. If I want to bring it to a new network, how do I connect? #

When you're in the new WiFi network, wake Fraimic, and select the "Fraimic_XXX" WiFi network from your WiFi settings. From there the Fraimic Access Portal will open and you will be able to connect your Fraimic to your new WiFi network.

When I wake my Fraimic, I see it is no longer connected to WiFi. What do I do? #

If your Fraimic loses WiFi connection, simply wake Fraimic and connect back to the "Fraimic_XXX" network in your WiFi settings. The access portal will automatically open and you can reload your WiFi credentials.

LED Indicators Guide

What do the LED indicators mean? #
  • WHITE pulsing — Processing / installing
  • RED solid — Recording
  • RED blinking — Error / failure; Failure to connect to internet
  • YELLOW blinking (3x) — Recording / upload canceled
  • MAGENTA blinking — Firmware update downloading
  • GREEN blinking — Charging
  • GREEN solid — Charged

Voice To Vision – Troubleshooting

Why does Fraimic sometimes generate random images when no audible prompt is given? #

The touch capacitive areas on Fraimic are super sensitive. It is likely that you accidentally touched the switches during handling or moving, causing the microphone to engage, then with another accidental tap, ended the recording and thusly prompted an image.

I messed up my recording or want to stop my image from being uploaded or created. How do I cancel the process? #

Simply triple tap the right hand corner of the Fraimic mat to cancel. You'll see a yellow light blink three times.

Integrations & API

What Home Assistant integrations are available? #

Fraimic offers an official Home Assistant integration for setup and usage. Our API is also be open to developers for custom automation and integration.

Do you have a public API? #

Yes — Fraimic supports developer access for custom integrations and automation. Find our API here

Pricing & Subscriptions

Why is Fraimic less expensive than other E Ink Spectra 6 art frames? #

Fraimic’s price is primarily dictated by the unit cost of E Ink’s Spectra 6 display. The goal is to offer the lowest possible price while staying sustainable — and to drive adoption that helps unlock lower display costs over time.

Is the upload site free? Are there any subscription fees? #

All basic site features are permanently free. Fraimic includes a fixed number of 100 free AI image generation credits per customer per year. If you need more credits, you can purchase additional credits through your account settings on app.fraimic.com or an annual membership that gives you unlimited credits.

Is the site free to use? Is subscription required to use it? #

Yes — all basic features (uploading images, Voice-To-Vision, and managing the frame) are free. AI art generation includes 100 free credits per year, with additional credits available for purchase

Privacy & Data

How is user data protected? #

Data is securely stored on AWS with encryption. Local upload via a local connection is available for users who prioritize keeping data offline.

Do you train AI models on my uploads? #

No — Fraimic does not use your uploaded images to train models.

Shipping & Delivery

When will the product ship? #

Both sizes will ship in Q2 of 2026. If you're reading this and we're past Q2 2026, then we're live baby!

Can you ship to my country? What are the shipping fees? #

Fraimic can ship to the vast majority of countries worldwide. To confirm shipping availability, email support@fraimic.com.

Will I pay taxes, duties, or VAT? #

Depending on your country, import duties/VAT may apply at delivery.

Warranty & Support

Is there a warranty? #

Fraimic includes a one-year warranty for manufacturing defects. The product will also support over-the-air (OTA) updates to address software issues.

How can I get support? #

How much does Fraimic weigh? #

Standard 14×18 = 6 lbs

What’s in the box? #

Standard Canvas includes a gallery-quality black wood frame, drywall mounts, mounting screws, USB C cable and an instruction manual.

Can I wall-mount it or use it on a shelf? #

Yes — Fraimic is designed to be shelf or wall-mount ready.

Storage & Slideshows

Why don’t you offer an SD card slot on Fraimic? #

E Ink Spectra 6 can’t display JPG/PNG directly like an LCD. Images require a specific conversion workflow (including a specialized BMP format with Spectra 6 properties). Also, E-Ink refresh is slow (seconds per refresh), so “slideshow” style playback isn’t the intended experience. Avoiding extra ports also reduces cost and complexity.

Instead, Fraimic focuses on a simple mobile upload workflow and local Wi-Fi sharing for fast, high-quality updates.

AI & Voice-To-Vision

I love Fraimic, but hate AI art. Can I have it without AI? #

Yes. Fraimic is a multi-year battery E Ink display for photos and art you already love. AI only comes into play when you use Voice-To-Vision. You can also disable Voice-To-Vision for peace of mind.

Won’t Voice-To-Vision create the usual “AI slop”? #

Fraimic aims to elevate outputs with style presets so simple prompts become cohesive, high-quality images. Users can also explore curated aesthetics or build a consistent look.

Lighting & Visibility

Is art displayed on Fraimic visible in the dark or low light? #

Fraimic uses reflective color E Ink (paper-like), so it relies on ambient light. In low light, visibility is similar to printed art — you’ll want room lighting or a nearby lamp. The display does not emit light (by design) to avoid a “screen” look.
